Job Summary

Assist the Council to develop, manage and continuously monitor and review the Council Vision, Corporate Strategy and Community Plan, and also, as required by the Council, develop other strategies and policies to meet the needs of the Citizens of the district and to provide clear leadership to the Directorate when doing so.  In this regard, particularly support Council and elected members in their strategic, policy and decision-making roles by providing timely, professional and objective advice on all aspects of the Directorate’s functions.

Support the Chief Executive to create a high performing culture by being an active member of the Senior Management Team; providing leadership in the development and delivery of the strategic objectives of Council and contributing to the operational effectiveness of the whole organisation; also deputise for and represent the Chief Executive when required.

Lead transformational change by working with the Senior and Corporate Management Teams and ensuring the effective integration of new and current functions and responsibilities. 

Deliver high quality services across the Directorate by using performance management to drive continuous improvement and by effectively using council’s resources.

Deliver Council’s Corporate and Community Plans by providing leadership and business focus within the Directorate and fostering effective external partnerships and relationships.

Ensure that the Directorate complies with all statutory and legislative requirements by adhering to these requirements and working in accordance with good governance and safety requirements.
